Timba Bass Lesson 9: 3-2 Tumbaos Example 2

Example 2 of our 3-2 Timba tumbao series demonstrates how to create variations without having to add too much to our original bassline. Pay careful attention to how the notes on the 3-side seem to “lead in” to the downbeat on the 2-side, almost creating the illusion that phrase is starting a measure late. This is a very interesting aspect of Cuban dance music that we will continue to look at as this series progresses.
